SOPHIE: Alondra Vega-Zaldivar with Bryn Blackwood
SOPHIE is a one woman opera that follows the life of a theatre actress, originally written in 2014/15 for Alondra Vega-Zaldivar’s Master’s Thesis and is dedicated to her grandfather. SOPHIE welcomes reporters to her home to talk about her lustrous career and her life living with schizophrenia. But as the stories unfold, her world crumbles into a brutal reality.”
Premiered to great acclaim at the Toronto Fringe Festival, the creator herself, Alondra Vega-Zaldivar, performs! And Bryn Blackwood’s piano playing brings you right into this new world.
Come for your front row seat into the innermost corners of the protagonist’s mind as she journeys through self awareness and triumphant survival. Acclaimed communicator, Joy Foster, will conduct a short Q&A with everyone after the performance.
