Winemaker’s Tasting Notes: Grown in the prestigious Twenty Mile Bench of the Niagara Escarpment, our 2020 VQA Cabernet Franc exudes an impressive tone of balance and ripeness from its carefully grown fruit. French oak aging for 14 months aided in the bouquet and flavour profile by allowing the tannins to develop in a harmonious elegance. This wine will evolve gracefully over the next decade, hitting its stride in the next several years.
2020 VQA Cabernet Franc: A polar shift from the 2019 Vintage’s delicate nature, the 2020 shows a deep purple colour with loads of dark berry fruit bursting from the nose onto the palate. The tannins present in a wonderfully smooth, yet firm, coco powder dusting that turns to velvet. Alcohol nearing 15% doesn’t show, since the intensity of everything else balances well and distinguishes this full-bodied wine with a great finish.
Food Pairings: This wine will show off your main-course big proteins such as steaks, roasts, duck, pork or lamb. As easily, it can be enjoyed with soft goat cheese on a warm loaf of oven-fresh bread.
