Happy World Poetry Day 2025!
Happy World Poetry Day! March 21 was announced by the United Nations in Paris in 1999 to promote poets around the world.
By buying wines from Windrush Estate Winery and Juice Winery, you are helping empower Canada’s vulnerable kids find their voice through their poetry! Recently, Britannia ES grade 7s were sent out to capture images that were metaphors for their community on the East Side of Vancouver, off Commercial Drive. Here’s one youth’s photo and poem. What can you tell about the youth from this?
Want to see more? During April, National Poetry Month, keep checking the ‘What’s New Blog’ at www.youthleadarts.com , for updates on our charitable education program called LEAD. It will feature more kids’ photos and poems throughout the month. I know they will move and inspire you.

Though it may be a bit cliché,
this photo reflects seizing the moment.
Most people avoid puddles on the sidewalk,
walk around them.
However, some people make a splash instead.
In my opinion, this represents not overthinking and living life in the moment.
On the Drive,
I have been taught
that sometimes it is better to get your shoes wet
instead of always playing it safe!…
