Description

What’s special about this bottle. Chief Winemaker Jonathan Boyle, with legendary Vintner Jim Warren, crafted this wine from hand-harvested fruit, grown in the best vineyards on the Niagara bench while our vines mature. Complex and harmonious, visions of aromatic floral and hints of ginger with juicy pear and honeydew are complemented by a crisp apple finish.

Pinot Grigio. While Windrush Estate Winery was still being planned, we set out to have a wine available once the winery construction was completed. Having a life-long relationship with legendary vintner, Jim Warren, we asked him to create something unique, elegant and intriguing. What was created was our 2019 Pinot Grigio. Wanting a style with restrained richness, the wine was aged 60 percent in stainless steel and 40 percent in neutral oak barrels and resting on its fine lees. The wine was left for a period to mature and develop the richness we sought while still retaining a fresh clean acidity. The fruit was sourced from a mixture of Beamsville Bench and Lincoln Lakeshore vineyards and aged under the supervision of Jim Warren. The wine was then blended carefully by Chief Winemaker Jonathan Boyle with the focus of finding the right balance for the wine to express itself and for you to enjoy.

Food Pairings. Hors d’oeuvres, antipasti, seafood salad; light pasta sauces including with clams, cream or fresh tomato; tiger prawns; seafood or vegetable-based risottos; spring vegetables; fish and chips; sushi; Sunday brunch

Review. I absolutely loved the gris colour, mouthwatering acidity, beautiful fruit  notes and the salinity on the finish! Great complexity and food friendly. Perfect!” – Lorie O-Sullivan, Sommelier
